Sebastian Gorski comments on recent ruling on the deletion of Facebook content in the Journal for Copyright and Media Law (Zeitschrift für Urheber- und Medienrecht)

In an interesting decision in late June of last year, the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main held that Facebook had the right to delete posts by users that violated the social network’s community standards even if the underlying GTC provisions were partially invalid.

In the current issue of the Journal for Copyright and Media Law (ZUM-RD), Gorski critically comments on the decision. Under the headline “What Facebook wishes to be allowed to delete. And what it should have to delete.”, he reminds readers of the extent to which social networks such as Facebook are not only entitled to delete, but above all obliged to do so.
